“I have been trying to lose 15 pounds after a gluttonous summer, and today I was on day 4 of eating healthy, and my goal was to stay away from eating unhealthy carbs. My cousin in LA plays college football for USC, and I went with my family to the game. Throughout all of the tailgating and walking around the stadium, I was surrounded by delicious smelling unhealthy foods, watching other people devour them with impunity. I even came across a cookie stand that had robust cookies just staring me in the face. Throughout all of these temptations, I managed to push through, and stick to my diet. I kept playing the tape forward in my head, and visualizing how disappointed I would be in myself if I ended my diet right then and there. So I focused on my goal, and I made it through unscathed.”

“I got home at 6:45 pm today, and felt incredibly tired from being jetlagged from my recent LA trip as well as having a busy day at work. All I wanted to do was make dinner, plop on the couch, and watch the Phillies game. However, my kids were extra excited to see me since they hadn’t seen me during the weekend, and my 5 year old wanted to tell me about her first day of kindergarten. So I made myself some eggs, left my phone in my bedroom, and gave both of my kids my full and undivided attention. I asked them about their days; I helped them finish making their weekend puzzle; I helped my 8 year old with her reading homework; I put both girls on my back and gave them a horsy ride in the living; Then I tickled them to death; Then I helped my wife put them to bed, and I went into my room, and popped the tv on for thirty minutes before I passed out.”
